The NTU Communications Department would like to recognized the efforts of NTU President Dr. Elmer J. Guy, who last Wednesday was able to secure a commitment of $14.3 million from the Navajo Nation Council's Sihasin Committee for student housing at our Crownpoint campus.
The committee passed the funds with 7 approvals and one choosing to abstain. The legislation for the funds will next go before the Navajo Nation Council in January, and if approved, we should be able to begin construction for a new three story residential.
Dr. Guy also made a pitch for $10 million for residential unit in Chinle, which will be discussed in future meetings with the Sihasin Committee. A big thank you to Dr. Guy and the NTU Board for pushing this through. Board members Rosalyn John and Dr. Carolyn Morris were also in attendance for the request, which helped out tremendously.
Be sure to let your Council Delegates that you support the funds for NTU, and hopefully we will have a positive outcome in January! NTU. Endless Possibility.
