CHINLE, AZ – On August 7, 2019, Navajo Technical University will be hosting a grand opening for a 6,000 sq. ft. classroom building located at its new instructional site east of Chinle Indian Health Services. The grand opening will begin at 10 AM and will be followed by a tour of the new facility.
The building represents a transition for the site, whose first ten years were sustained by strategic partnerships with the Chinle Unified School District and Navajo Nation Workforce Development. C.U.S.D. allowed the instructional site to offer courses at Chinle High School, while the agreement with Workforce allowed NTU to occupy three double wide trailers that included classrooms, offices, and administrative space.
The grand opening is open to the public and will include refreshments. The 6,000 sq. ft. building will feature six classrooms and office space. In the background of the opening of the classroom building will be construction for a 20,000 sq. ft. academic building that will feature an additional seven classrooms and two wet labs for biology. The building will also include a small computer room, a library, and office space for private tutoring.
